Super Bowl Predictions!

{by Logan O'Bier}

Although she has many other hobbies and interests [such as quilting and photography] Logan is one of my best football-fan-friends, [ever since we were little I've been impressed with her knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport] and, as I am highly unqualified to write this post, she kindly consented to help me out! She is a fantastic and informed fan, so feel free to ask questions, enjoy her predictions and maybe make some of your own!

Well, It’s football season again (finally!) and the big question is “Who’s going to the Super Bowl?”  Even though we’re just coming up on week three, it’s fun to predict so here goes...

Division Champions

AFC                                               NFC
North-Baltimore Ravens            North-Chicago Bears
South-Houston Texans              South-New Orleans Saints
East-New England Patriots       East-Dallas Cowboys
West-Denver Broncos                West-Arizona Cardinals

AFC Champions- New England Patriots        NFC Champions- Dallas Cowboys
The outcome?  Patriots all the way.

Reasons: The “Pats” are ready.  Tom Brady is playing some of his best football ever.  In week two, he executed perfect fakes, lightning fast quick passes and fantastic deep passes.  Cowboys...*sigh*...despite their rough start Tony Romo is starting to give the impression that he wants to win.  That will power combined with more practice as well as consistency could easily lead to the super bowl.

“Upset” Super Bowl

AFC Champions- Baltimore Ravens               NFC Champions- Chicago Bears

Why would this be an “upset” super bowl?  Mainly because Ravens as well as the Bears would have to beat teams better than they to make it.  Of course the Baltimore Ravens would win...or would they?

Other Strong Contenders
Green Bay Packers
Philadelphia Eagles
Pittsburgh Steelers
San Diego Chargers
New York Jets

Who do you think is going to the super bowl?

  5. While I am a die hard redskins fan, I am wondering where the Eagles play into the predictions. While they were mentioned in the "Strong Contender's" slot, I think that they have every component necessary to take it all the way this year. The most important component that they have is a strong head coach/starting qb relationship. I am also to see that you have set the Saints getting beat by the Cowboys. As seen by last night's football game, the Cowboys have a seriously lacking offense that was picked apart by the Redskin's defense. I don't see the Cowboys being able to hold up to another team that is able to captialize better in the Red Zone (something that the Redskins have struggled for the past few seasons.)

Well, that's my two cents :)

  6. OK..Eagles...M.Vick can't seem to stay healthy...He plays physically and he gets hurt. The Eagles without Vick?...nothing. Vick, (when healthy) in previous years could run rings around an opposing team. I haven't seen that Vick this year. (not to mention his passing isn't very accurate) Nevertheless the Eagles are a threat. The Redskins...Mike Shanahan is one of the top 2 coaches in the league (in my opinion )coaching a team that has been considered "unfix-able"...They have shown fantastic improvement but Grossman doesn't seem to be a super bowl quarterback. (Not to mention they couldn't beat the Cowboys when Romo (playing the whole game)had a broken rib and a punctured lung while they only scored field goals) The Cowboys have an almost new offense you're going to see a lot of mistakes their first few games...but they have a killer defense. The Cowboys like to defeat themselves in games...with more practice and consistency they could be super bowl contenders without a problem. The main thing for the "Boys" is that Romo is finally "being" the captain...he wants to win the game rather than sitting on the sideline looking like a whipped kid. I have high expectations for a team with a quarterback showing that attitude. Also, the Cowboys beat the Saints when no one else could....does this mean they could beat them again? I think so! I would love to see the Cowboys win this year! Last year was one of the craziest years of football...and with the Lions winning games and the Packers looking fantastic...this could be another one. I've watched football for years and the only thing that's predictable is that its not. It's still really early so we shall see....

  7. BUUTT when Vick is healthy, I don't think that there is a qb in the leauge that can hold a candle to him. He is able to pass really well, doesn't call too many audibles, but can mix it up, and he is (as you say) a VERY physical player. He hasn't been that fantastic this season because I am pretty sure that he did something to his hand. Once that heals up, NFC East beware! I agree with everything that you said about the Skins. I don't think that they will be contenders this year, but I think that in the future seasons once they get their qb situation worked out, and continue to build up their o line. And the Cowboy's defense couldn't stop one touchdown on the Monday night game, and while they stuffed the other attempts, they were (usually) unable to make the plays necessary to prevent the field goal attempts. ( i kinda sorta really hate the cowboys...in fact, my father has said that he would disown me if i even considered marrying a cowboys fan, so my opinions are admittedly a little biased :)) I totally agree with the upset year analysis. And i it is so true about never being able to predict. I think that this season will signal a new era of contenders.

  8. Haha:)...I believe that Vick is no longer a threat as a super bowl contender. To be honest he's getting old as a QB. Based on last years season he plays in spurts during a game. He gets tired fast and its killing his game. My fave QB list as far as performance (not in any order)...Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Joe Flacco, Tony Romo. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!!!

Funny my dad said almost the same thing about me marring a Skins fan!
